Members of Girl Scout Troop 8162 performs Saturday during he 63rd
annual Holiday Parade. The Girls Scouts’ entry, titled, “Lights, Camera,
Christmas,” won the grand marshal trophy.
The
63rd annual Holiday Parade, which featured 96 entries and was timed at
an hour and 25 minutes, attracted a huge crowd up and down Washington
Street and along the rest of the parade route Saturday morning.
Including
a wide range of entries, from floats and animals to cars, bands and
mascots, the parade commenced just after a heavy morning fog lifted and
nearly perfect weather conditions prevailed.
“The weather couldn’t have been better,” said Lindy Chapman,
Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce executive vice president today
(Monday). She noted that the parade ran smoothly and, based on the
positive feedback she has received, proved to be a crowd-pleaser.
Carrying
the theme, “Things to Remember... A Chillicothe Christmas,” this year’s
parade included long-time community leader and supporter John Irvin as
the grand marshal, who rode in a car at the beginning of the parade.
The
parade was announced live from a booth just west of the Livingston
County Courthouse on Washington Street by Bill Shaffer and Dean
Brookshier. Dave Rogers and Betty Preston announced for the live
broadcast of the parade on 98.5 FM and 1010 AM KCHI and Windjammer Cable
Channel 6.
